About Me

I like coffee.  And margaritas.  Not at the same time.  However, if you can make either one well we can become good friends.

I look like I’m pretty mainstream but sometimes my undercover hippie side will show up.  Don’t let it catch you off guard.

I’ve got three kids. They are awesome – when they aren’t being total monkeys.  The thing that I find amazing about being a mom to these kids is how quickly time passes.  It was just yesterday that I was holding my first born in my arms.  In reality, she just recently turned 11.

The other two are boys.  Very, very precious boys.  You’ll see a lot of pictures of my kids around here.  They are my favorite thing to photograph.

I’m very sentimental sometimes.  But at other times I’m totally sarcastic.  I’m a complicated woman.  Roll with it.

My husband is a former bartender and a recovering frat boy.  He charms me.   And he makes good margaritas.  And he bought me a fancy coffee maker.  He’s a keeper for sure.

I think photography is fun.  It’s thrilling and exhausting all at the same time.  It makes me proud but it also keeps me humble.  It’s my thing.  It’s what I do for me.  I do it to remember forever how precious these little people are in my life.  Before I know it, they’ll be gone.  I don’t want to miss any of it.  I can do that for you too.  Don’t be surprised though if I start gleefully jumping up and down at some point.  I tend to get a bit excited when I get a really great shot.  I can’t hide it either.  I’m not cool like that.  Not even close to cool.

I have several prayers that I say often.  One I’ve been asking since my first child was born is that God would give them each a heart for Him.  I want that legacy in my family tree and I have been very specific about it.  I want it for all three of them and I want it for their children, and the children after them.  Into the 7th generation after me.  I’m not sure what’s going to happen with that 8th generation but by that time, I’m pretty sure I’ll be up there asking for those children face to face.  That is not to say that I’m a perfect woman.  I’m crazy far from that.  But I’m still going to ask for what I want.

Why start a blog?  I'm not sure.  I guess it's because I'm facing a new chapter in my life.  I turned 40 over the summer and all my kids are now in school full time.  In my twenties, I learned how to be an employee and a wife.  In my thirties, I spent my time being a full time mother.  Now, I'm forty and I'm still figuring out what I want to do with myself.  I'm trying to eek out something that is mine.  This blog is intended to document the daily aspects of that journey.  And to document this pretty amazing life of mine.

About this amazing life of mine - keep in mind that the things you will see here are my highlight reel.  Behind the scenes, I'm knee deep in children's homework, kids that bicker, dirty laundry and a sink full of dishes.  Let's agree to just not compare.  And while we're at it, not judge too.  M'kay?  Thanks.

Anything else you want to know about me, I think you’ll have to pick up from reading the blog.
